Türkay Uzun Sılalı re-elected as president

The 14th Ordinary General Assembly of the Cyprus Turkish Electrical Contractors Association (KTEMB) was held at the Taner Akcan Apprenticeship and Adult Education Centre Conference Hall in Nicosia. Türkay Uzun Sılalı, the sole candidate, was unanimously re-elected for a second term as president.

Following the opening of the meeting, Yıltan Palmer was elected chair of the assembly, with Mehmet Nasiboğlu and Halit Aygün elected as secretaries. After a one-minute silence in memory of colleagues who had passed away, President Sılalı addressed the assembly on behalf of the 14th-term Board of Directors.

Sılalı reviewed the board’s work over the past two years, including efforts to combat unregistered electrical contracting, strengthen the institutional standing of the Association and its members, build partnerships with organisations at home and abroad, provide vocational training, and improve quality and standards across the sector. He also outlined his plans for a new term and updated attendees on the proposed Association building, on a site where infrastructure work has been completed. He said the aim is for the new building to serve as a fully equipped training centre tailored to members’ needs. Sılalı also highlighted the importance of helping the sector adapt to digital transformation.

Serkan Kırmızı, President of the İskele Tradesmen and Craftsmen Chamber, and Hüseyin Peksever, General Secretary of El-Sen, also attended as guests and delivered speeches calling for unity and solidarity. After a message from İbrahim Aysal, President of the Chamber of Electrical Engineers, was read out, Secretary Tarkan Bulancak presented the activity report and Treasurer Mertsan Direl presented the financial report. Both reports were approved unanimously. Elections for the Association’s presidency and governing bodies followed.

Celal Hasan Cin, Barım Erdoğan, Özden Gençalp, Hüseyin Aygün, Aral İrtem and Tarkan Bulancak were unanimously elected to the Board of Directors. Ceylan Mehmet and İsmail Güvenç were elected as alternate members. Aziz Limasollu, Mehmet Nasiboğlu, Halit Aygün, Bora Karaçam and Mevlit Zorba were elected to the Honorary Board, while Yıltan Palmer and Mertsan Direl were elected to the Audit Board.

The assembly concluded after members shared their comments and wishes.
