Happy World Electricians Day – 10 June
Electricity is a cornerstone of modern life. The safe and uninterrupted delivery of energy to our homes, workplaces, hospitals, schools, industrial facilities, and infrastructure systems is made possible largely through the knowledge, experience, and dedication of electricians.
On the occasion of World Electricians Day, celebrated on 10 June, we extend our sincere congratulations to all electricians who contribute to the establishment, development, and sustainable operation of our country's energy infrastructure.
Today, the electrical sector goes far beyond traditional installation work. With the growing adoption of solar energy systems, energy storage technologies, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and smart home and building systems, the responsibilities and importance of our members continue to increase every day.
In recent years, the climate crisis, rising energy costs, and global developments concerning energy security have positioned the electrical sector as a strategic industry. During this period of transformation, the need for a qualified electrical workforce has become more evident than ever.
As the Cyprus Turkish Electrical Contractors Association (KTEMB), we observe that one of the most significant challenges facing our sector is the shortage of skilled human resources. Strengthening vocational education, improving certification systems, and encouraging young people to pursue careers in the electrical profession are no longer matters of choice but of necessity for the future of our industry.
In this regard, KTEMB remains committed to attracting young people to the electrical sector, promoting a culture of occupational health and safety, raising professional standards, and creating an industry structure that can adapt to technological advancements.
Our members are not merely individuals who install electrical systems or respond to faults; they are highly skilled technical professionals who help ensure public safety, contribute to economic development, and shape the energy future of our country. With increasing energy consumption during the summer months, growing investments in renewable energy, and the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, the strategic value of this profession has become even more apparent.
On this meaningful day, we would like to thank all our colleagues who work throughout the country under all weather and working conditions, carrying significant responsibility for the protection of life and property. We also remember with respect and gratitude those who are no longer with us.
