Meaningful Meeting at the Presidency: Emphasis on Bicommunal Cooperation from KTEMB

The President of the Cyprus Turkish Electrical Contractors Association (KTEMB), Türkay Uzun Sılalı, together with members of the Board of Directors, paid a courtesy visit to President Tufan Erhürman at his office. During the meeting held at the Presidency, a wide range of issues were discussed, spanning from energy policies to social cooperation.

During the visit, President Sılalı presented President Erhürman with a commemorative plaque and a comprehensive introductory book about the Association. The meeting also addressed the structure of the Association, the role of its member companies in the sector, and current developments in the electrical industry.

Sılalı provided detailed information on the Association’s vocational training activities, social responsibility projects, and sectoral development initiatives. Emphasizing the inevitability of transformation in the field of renewable energy, he underlined the need for proper planning of this transition, while also stressing that occupational health and safety remains of vital importance for the sector.

One of the most notable topics of the meeting was bicommunal cooperation projects. Highlighting their commitment to actively contributing to efforts aimed at strengthening trust and solidarity between the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities, Sılalı stated:

“For a long time, we have been in contact with our counterparts in the South to establish a bicommunal education and science laboratory in the buffer zone. This project is of great importance not only for technical development but also for fostering social rapprochement. At this point, we kindly request the support of our President.”

It was noted that the Association will continue its work with determination in line with the aforementioned priorities, while emphasizing the importance of the President’s support throughout this process.
