KTEMB Organised a KNX Seminar at CIU!
An event titled “Introduction to Building Automation” was organized for UKU students through the collaboration of UKU and KTEMB. The Cyprus Turkish Electrical Contractors Association (KTEMB) held an event for International Cyprus University (UKU) students, explaining how smart building systems are established using the KNX Automation Protocol.
The event, held at the UKU Çevik Uraz Center conference hall, was attended by many undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as academics. As part of the event program, opening speeches were delivered first by KTEMB President Türkay Uzun Sılalı and then by KTEMB Administrative Officer and Electrical Engineer Osman Asilzade. Following the speeches, KNX instructors Ahmet Dağbaşı and Şevki Kandulu delivered presentations covering the technical details of building automation systems.
KTEMB President Sılalı spoke about the activities carried out by the Association, stating that they are striving to solve the shortage of qualified personnel experienced by its members working in the electrical sector. Sılalı also emphasized that with the professional and technical development of individuals, increased use of new technologies, and raised standards, the quality of service and customer options will improve, benefiting consumers as well.
KTEMB Administrative Officer and Electrical Engineer Asilzade stated, “Not only the electrical sector but also consumers will benefit from the impacts of automation systems.” He also highlighted the importance of University–Industry collaborations and stressed the need to further increase such activities. Asilzade additionally mentioned the theoretical and practical training programs offered to member companies, noting that engineers, technicians, technologists, students, and anyone interested in the profession can participate in these trainings.
During their presentations, KNX instructors Ahmet Dağbaşı and Şevki Kandulu emphasized the importance of building automation and provided both theoretical and practical demonstrations on how the KNX system can be integrated into installations and how devices can be controlled through the KNX automation system. Instructor Dağbaşı also noted that building automation enhances the control and efficient use of electrical energy.
The event concluded with a Q&A session. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the speakers and KNX instructors by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kuşaf, Acting Dean of the UKU Faculty of Engineering and Chair of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
