Visit from KTEMB to the Cyprus Foundations Administration

Important Warning Regarding Electrical Works in Overseas Tenders!
President of the Cyprus Turkish Electrical Contractors Association (KTEMB), Türkay Uzun Sılalı, and Administrative Officer Osman Asilzade visited the Director General of the Cyprus Foundations Administration, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, to discuss important matters concerning the electrical works of buildings owned by the Foundations.

“KTEMB Membership Should Be a Mandatory Tender Requirement”
During the visit, KTEMB President Türkay Uzun Sılalı highlighted that, in recent times, electrical works in some buildings owned by the Foundations Administration have been carried out by individuals who are not members of KTEMB, in violation of the KTEMB Law No. 51/2006.
Sılalı emphasized that this issue particularly arises in overseas-funded tenders aimed at providing grants and stressed the necessity of including KTEMB membership as a mandatory requirement in the tender specifications for contractors undertaking such projects.

“Non-Standard Applications Pose Serious Risks”
Sılalı reminded that electrical installations in the country are carried out in compliance with BS standards and Kıb-Tek’s local regulations and rules. He warned that foreign companies unfamiliar with the local system cannot properly execute these installations.
Pointing out the significant differences between various applications, Sılalı stressed that non-compliant electrical installations pose serious risks to both life and property safety and underlined the vital importance of explicitly including KTEMB membership in tender specifications.
